Josh started his music career at the age of 11 in Georgetown IL as a Saxophone player in Jr High. Since he always wanted to play drums, he decided to start taking private lessons. As a sophomore in High School he finally convinced his band director (Chuck Hess) that he was good enough to march in the drumline. After marching two years on tenors, his senior year he was asked to play snare and was the section leader all the while still playing the Saxophone and French Horn in concert band. While in High School Josh was asked by a friend to march in a small Drum Corps in Champaign County called Mirage. He has been hooked on Drum Corps ever since.
While in College at Parkland in Champaign, Josh tried out for the Illini Drumline and won the spot as bass 5 and played with them for 2 years under the direction of Gary Smith and then Tom Caneva. From then on, Josh decided that teaching drumline was what he wanted to do.
Josh is currently the drumline instructor for Georgetown Ridgefarm High School in Georgetown, IL and the assistant instructor for Danville High School in Danville, IL. In his real life Josh is the Transportation Manager for Hawkeye Foodservice in Danville, IL. He and his wife Myanne have two children and currently reside in Danville, IL.
