Open House a Big Success

Posted in General News on December 13th, 2009 by Gary

Christmas came early for us this year and Santa brought us exactly what we wanted. New Members.  Our December camp brought back most of KnightFire’s extremely talented percussionists along with some exciting new prospects to our Brand New Horn Line. We are still taking members in the Horn Line as well as the Color Guard and Drum Line. A big Thank you goes out to all our staff including my wife Destinia for making this all possible.  Don’t miss our  Fundraiser on January 9th from 9am until 4 pm at the the North Side County Market. Our next Camp is on the 16th and 17th of January. Please make sure you can attend and bring a friend. Heres to Great New Year and our Brand New Drum and Bugle Corps.

KnightFire Mourns for Founding Member

Posted in General News on October 29th, 2009 by Gary

It is with a saddened heart that I bring to you the news that Jack “The General” Stites passed away Sunday Qctober 26th.  Almost 3 years ago now, Jack read an article in the Macomb Journal about a  newly forming youth program that would provide continued music education for percussionists in the Central Illinois Area. Through The General’s kindness and generosity, we were able to purchase brand new equipment to make our program a reality. Today KnightFire is venturing into new waters with the addition of Horns and Color Guard to become a full Drum and Bugle Corps which wouldn’t at all be possible if Jack had just put the paper down. Instead he picked up the phone and with that one phone call, has affected the lives of many area youths as well as my own and that of all the  staff and parents involved with KnightFire. So from all of us at KnighFire, we say to Jack , “Thank you General and know that you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.”

Press Release – KnightFire Percussion receives donation of equipment, money from Bugles Across America

Posted in General News on September 25th, 2009 by Scott

9/25/2009 – Danville, IL

KnightFire Percussion recently received a donation of 25 marching horns, various percussion equipment, uniforms, and money from Bugles Across America. This donation will allow KnightFire to expand beyond its origin as a drumline to become a full competitive drum and bugle corps and will be renamed KnightFire Drum and Bugle Corps.

Knightfire has performed as a drumline at various events throughout central Illinois over the last four years, including parades, town festivals, and local basketball games. The organization has provided safe and educational activities for over 40 Danville area kids during the summer months. KnightFire will begin competition in the Small Drum Corps Association (SDCA) Midwestern circuit in summer 2010.

KnightFire is an organization started in Central Illinois and currently based in Danville, IL, that is dedicated to providing continuing education in indoor marching and ensemble music performance located in the heart of central Illinois.

Bugles Across America was founded in 2000 by Tom Day, with the primary purpose of recruiting volunteers so that veterans from all walks of life will be afforded the opportunity to have a live bugler play “Taps” at their military funeral.
